Bella Italia So Beautiful!!
We had so much fun over the weekend seeing new things! On Friday we went with our sponsor Derek and his wife Julie and their kids to dinner in Kyllburg. We went to this really cool restaurant called Bella Italia with a river that runs next to it. There were huge fish in the water and lots of ducks for the kids to feed. They absolutely loved it. Also there is a huge castle there that you can see. It is a really cool little town. Looks like it's out of a storybook.
On Saturday we went to the Pig Festival at Wittlich. They roasted pigs on a spit and you could get a sandwich from the meat. It was pretty crazy. There were tons of people there and lots of carnival rides. Their rides are not like ours at all. They are so crazy. We went on the Bumper Cars and they were so fast, Av got whiplash and Kas had a black eye by the time we were done. And all of the kids were crying!! Kinda funny. They also had swings that were way high and a roller coaster that went around in circles over and over again. Made me wanna puke just watching it. These rides were totally nuts. And the Germans don't really care about safety. They think that if you are dumb enough to ride, it's your own fault if you get hurt. So there are no seatbelts or anything!
Then on Sunday we were so tired we decided to skip church and sleep in. Then in the afternoon we went on a drive to Trier. It's about half an hour from where we live. We got there and realized there was a Rally Car race going on. The streets were packed with people watching. So we decided to stay and watch for a while. It was really cool and we had never seen anything like it. There were Mini Coopers, Ford Focuses and some other little cars racing. They would get to the turn right in front of us going like 100 mph and power slide around the turn. Kason absolutely loved it. He thought it was so cool!! We stayed for a couple of hours and it ended. So we decided to drive around a little and see the town for a minute. Then we headed back to Spang. It was a great weekend. Lots of fun things to do. Now we are just looking forward to the next weekend.
I am getting adjusted finally to the time change and living in a foreign country. It is crazy how fast you learn when you have to. I take my drivers test on Friday. So then at least I will be able to drive. For now we just walk everywhere and go to the park during the day when we get bored. It will be nice to have a Drivers Liscense! Av starts school on Monday so we are just getting ready for that and running around base getting everything set up. I could do a whole post on that. It has been so crazy. Seems like everywhere you go, you don't have the right paperwork or right pass etc. So they send you to another place where they give you more paperwork! Ugh! I will be so glad when we are in our house with our own stuff. We do miss home though. It is hard being here with people you don't really know. Not the same as in little Cache Valley where everytime you go out you see someone you know. Makes you feel kinda small and insignificant. It is a weird feeling. I am sure once we get used to it, it will be fine. For now it is kinda strange. I can tell we will really like it here though once we get settled!! So love and hugs to you all from Germany!!
